About Us
Dr. Daniel Robitshek is Health Sciences Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. He is a full-time Internal Medicine Specialist in the Hospitalist Program at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, California.
He has spoken at numerous local, national and international medical and lay conferences on the importance of returning to the core values of human connection and in incorporating patients' existential and spiritual perspectives in the delivery of healthcare.
He has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards as well as twice recipient of the Dean's Award for Compassion by the UC Irvine School of Medicine. He was nominated for the Association of American Medical Colleges' National Humanism in Medicine Award in 2004 for his dedication to teaching and role-modeling empathy to medical students.
In 2001, he was awarded a major grant by the Templeton Foundation/George Washington Institute for Spirituality and Health to develop a curriculum in Spirituality in Medicine and is the Director of the Spritual Care Curriculum at UCI's School of Medicine.
Dr. Robitshek is Co-Director along with Dr. Johanna Shapiro of the Art of Doctoring Course at UCI's School of Medicine - a course dedicated to providing fourth-year medical students with tools to help strengthen the core human values of altruism and empathy in their interactions with patients, families and colleagues.
